Signed and dated on right: IG. hildebrandt/ pinxit Ano. 176[...] or 170[...] (the date is partially hidden beneath the upturned corner of the print). The artist is not listed in the Getty Union List of Artist Names. Biographical dictionaries only list one artist with the surname Hildebrandt who was active in the 18th century—Joseph Hildebrandt, active in Metz ca. 1750. There are no other works by him in public collections.
