One of a series of 22 portraits of Polish kings commissioned for the Marble Room at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The painting is listed in the 1795 catalogue of the Stanisław August collection under no. 1158. Václav II (1271–1305) of the Přemyslid dynasty, King of Bohemia (reg. 1278–1305), King of Poland (reg. 1300–5) as Włacaw II the Bohemian. Inscribed on the back: VENCESLAVS/ BOHEMUS/ Filius Ottocari/ Bohemi Regis, Gener/ Premislaj Regis Poloniae,/ Coronatus in Regem-/ Poloniae Ao Dm 1300./ Obijt Pragae 1305. Annô./ Regni vero in Polo=/=nia 5to/ Nro 2 The marble plaque beneath the painting is inscribed: VENCESLAS BOHEMUS/ + MCCCV.
