The publishers based it on Aleksander Chodkiewicz’s Portrety Wsławionych polaków z ich opisaniem [Portraits of Famous Poles with descriptions) illustrated with the lithography of Walenty Śliwicki and published in 1820. This composition is used in the woodcut reproduced in Tygodnik Ilustrowany in 1863 (no. 221 of 19 December 1863, Vol. VIII, p. 485.).
